BIG News!

I'm pretty sure we've told most of the family and a few friends this, so now I'm allowed to share it with the blogging world.  It's something that will change our lives... forever.  It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, and something that I'm super excited about, but really nervous about at the same time.  I've been preparing myself for this for a while now.  I know it will be hard and I will probably cry a lot and lose some sleep, but it will all be worth it in the end.  Are you ready for this news?

...

The waiting list for the dental hygiene program has gone down from 3 years to 1!  Apparently with the economy being the way it is, a lot of people have had to drop out.  Then when they let some people on the waiting list know they could start the program, a bunch of them had to back out because they couldn't afford it, were pregnant, etc.
What this means:
  • I will be completely done with school in 3 years instead of just starting the program in 3 years.
  • I can start a career sooner.
  • I have to be prepared sooner than I had anticipated, and I have less time to prepare myself for what it's going to be like.
  • I'm even more nervous about how hard it is going to be, which I did not think was possible.
  • I won't be able to get pregnant this summer, like I was hoping (even though Sam was still on the fence about having kids already).  We'll have to wait until I'm done with school.  Sad.
So that's my news.  Hopefully I tricked some of you into thinking I was gonna have a baby, because that was one of my goals for writing this post.  I like to think I'm funny and tricky sometimes.

Bathtub Blues

A couple of weeks ago, some tiles in our shower kinda collapsed in.  I don't know how else to put it.  Our shower was pretty ghetto in the first place.  The bottom half had tan colored tiles and the rest was white tile.  So obviously our shower had been re-tiled at least once, and not very well.  Another problem was mold.  No matter how much bleach I scrubbed that tub with, the mold would not go away.  That's because the mold was an internal problem.  When the shower was re-tiled before we lived here, apparently some mold found a new home.  So back to the collapsed-in tile.  After showering with a black tarp over said tiles for all these weeks, the maintenance guy finally came to fix it this morning.  He tore out the existing tile and now our shower looks like this until tomorrow morning when he comes back to finish it.
Gross.  Add this to the overwhelming smell of bleach that is filling my nostrils right now, and I think it's safe to say that I got the blues.  The bathtub blues.

Day 8: A thank you letter to someone who has changed your life

I have seriously struggled with this one.  First of all, I can't pick just one person who has changed my life; there are so many letters that I would have to write!  Secondly, if I were to write a letter like that, I would want it to be private.  So I'm just going to have to disappoint everyone and say this:  If you have changed my life in any way, I hope you know that you have.  Even if at first I thought the change you made was not for the better, I am sure I have learned from it and hopefully become a better person in the end.  Thank you.

I know. I'm lame.

Day 9: A photo you took

I'm not exactly sure if I took this or Sam took this, but I think it sums up our relationship pretty well.

Just to be on the safe side, I'm adding this picture, because I'm positive I took it.  And I just want everyone to see how charming and mature my husband is.

A moment you wish you could relive
I wish I could relive getting married.
Not necessarily the whole day.  It was kinda stressful at points - the actual ceremony got delayed about an hour and a half and I cried.  My makeup survived though.  I don't know how, but it did.  Once we finally got everything started, I was pretty flustered.  I was still super happy, but flustered.  Then I was having a hard time paying attention.  Once I finally pulled myself together I looked at Sam and started crying again.  I don't know what was wrong with me.  I really remember very little about the ceremony itself.  I remember being told Sam and I didn't sit in the designated "bride and groom" seat, but one of our guests did.  I remember taking pictures afterward and sweating like crazy because it was like 104 degrees outside.  I remember weird stuff, but the ceremony itself is kinda fuzzy.  But I couldn't have asked for a better result.
